Chained Heart – We Have Far More In Common
Jo Cox, “We have far more in common with each other than that which divides us.” Even though humans have great differences, we have greater similarities.
You can see a chained heart and the flags of some different countries. Countries represent our differences. I included the flag of Germany, India, China, Russia, France, The United States of America, Bahrain and the United Kingdom. That represent our differences because everyone is from a different country. However, I don't understand why countries go to war with each other when we're all human beings.
The heart is what humans have in common with each other. There are also many other similarities that we share, but I felt like the heart is the most powerful, the centre of our existence. It can both start and end a life. It is beating right now, keeping you alive. Without it, we wouldn't be able to survive. The heart is also associated with emotions like love, compassion and courage. Emotions are what makes us human. Without them, we wouldn't feel passion or be determined to do something. The heart is something that reminds me that we are all human beings, despite our religious and cultural differences.
My heart is chained because we choose to let our differences lead us to war, ignoring that we all have a heart, ignoring that we're all human. I feel like people use countries as an excuse for their greediness and selfishness. Even though we're all part of different communities and nations we all have a heart.
